Auto Insurance Quotes Compare: Employee Health Insurance Costs up for Businesses

 

Many local businesses are seeing an increase in health insurance costs of an estimated 20 to 30 percent compared with last year. According to the local insurance agents we spoke with, part of this is because of new costs incurred under the healthcare reform bill. One of these costs is from allowing people to stay on their parent's health plan until age 26. They say some businesses have canceled policies and others have made major cut backs on coverage.

The owner of RV parts manufacturer, Stromberg Carlson, in Traverse City says its health care costs rose by nearly 25 percent from last year. The company switched to a new provider to prevent an even bigger increase. 9 and 10's Kyle Mitchell and Photojournalist Drew Parfitt have more details.
