Before you buy check car insurance
Most new car shoppers check sticker prices and fuel efficiency ratings, but there's something else to check to save money on your car purchase.
According to Edmunds.com spokewoman Jeannine Fallon, "Car insurance makes up about 25% of your automotive finances. So, you definitely want to research what a new car is going to cost you in insurance so that you don't get caught off-guard." Edmunds has compiled a list of the cars that are the least expensive to insure.
The least expensive Sedans to insure are the Volkswagen Jetta, then the Chevrolet Aveo and the Suzuki SX4.
The least expensive hatchbacks to insure are the Smart Fortwo, then the Chevrolet HHR and the Nissan Cube
.The site also ranks SUV-Crossovers, Trucks and Coupes.
