The following incidents were taken from Wilmette Police Department reports between Jan. 9-16.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Someone injected super glue into the lock of a basement office space in the 700 block of 12th Street sometime between noon Jan. 15 and 2:34 p.m. Jan. 16. The door could not be opened with a key and the damage was estimated at $60.
THEFT
A wallet, containing $70, was reported stolen from Jewel grocery store, 411 Green Bay Road, at 11:57 a.m. Jan. 11. A woman told police that she thinks it was stolen while she was in the frozen food section after she walked away from her shopping cart to look at the “Stouffer’s” products.
A business in the 3200 block of Lake Avenue reported Jan. 10 that $4,900 had been stolen, possibly by an employee. The case is under investigation.
A box of electrical equipment, worth $300, was reported stolen from outside a garage in the 1000 block of Oakwood Avenue at 10:49 a.m. Jan. 10 after the homeowner left it briefly unattended.
DRUGS
A 21-year-old Wilmette man was arrested at 3:43 p.m. Jan. 16 in the 600 block of Isabella Street and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign.
A 19-year-old Racine, Wisc. man and a 19-year-old Chicago woman were arrested at 12:11 a.m. Jan. 11 in the 800 block of Green Bay Road after the car they were passengers in was stopped for a traffic offense. They were charged with possession of cannabis. The driver, an 18-year-old Chicago woman, was charged with driving without a license and speeding.
ALCOHOL POSSESSION
A 19-year-old Evanston man was arrested at 6:35 p.m. Jan. 15 outside Foremost Liquors, 275 Green Bay Road, and cited with possession of alcohol by a minor. Police were driving by and saw the man, along with four others who all looked to be under 21 years old, loading alcohol into the trunk of a vehicle. The group had just spent $350 to purchase seven cases of Busch beer, one case of Budweiser beer, three bottles of Absolut vodka, one bottle of Grey Goose vodka, two bottles of Skol vodka, two bottles of Jose Cuervo tequila and one bottle of Jagermeister. There was also a half-empty bottle of Smirnoff vodka in the vehicle. The other four men were released without charge.
Two juveniles were arrested Jan. 15 at Gillson Park and cited with consumption and possession of alcohol by a minor. Police had responded to a report of several youths drinking and sledding near the sailing beach, but the group ran away with officers arrived. Police also responded to the park after receiving a report of several cars driving on the ice skating rink. Tire marks were visible on the ice but the vehicles were already gone by the time police arrived.
LOST JEWELRY
A black nylon bag with various pieces of jewelry valued at $29,000 was reported lost at 12:41 p.m. Jan. 11 by a resident in the 100 block of Woodbine Street.
FLEEING AND ELUDING
A 24-year-old Wilmette man was arrested at 12:37 a.m. Jan. 17 in the 2800 block of Wilmette Avenue and charged with fleeing and eluding police, illegal transportation of alcohol in a vehicle, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to signal when making a turn and speeding.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
A 24-year-old Maywood man was arrested at 5:07 a.m. Jan. 16 in the 3400 block of Lake Avenue and charged with driving on a suspended license and driving with suspended registration after he was pulled over for allegedly speeding.
A 45-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 11:26 p.m. Jan. 15 in the 2000 block of Lake Avenue and charged with driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance after he was pulled over on a traffic stop.
