Home Insurance

If you own a home then it's likely you have purchased some kind of home insurance. This type of traditional insurance policy protects you against damage or liability related to your home.

Most home insurance policies are divided into two parts: home insurance property protection and home insurance liability protection. Property protection provides coverage against damage to your home. If a thunderstorm damages your roof, or a hurricane takes out half the house-then the property part of your home insurance will cover the damages up to a certain amount not exceeding the value of your home.

The liability portion of your house insurance policy protects you and all other inhabitants of your home against lawsuits. If your fence falls onto your neighbor's car during a storm or a friend gets injured in your backyard, you will be covered to a certain amount by the liability portion of your home insurance policy.

All home insurance companies provide different options and have different requirements. Take some time to shop around and be very clear about your needs when you meet with the insurance company.
