Former West Berkshire police chief Jim Trotman has been acquitted of torching his own car in an insurance scam.
Chief Supt Trotman, 45, of Abingdon, was today cleared of arson, insurance fraud and perverting the course of justice following a two-week trial at Swindon Crown Court.Deputy Chief Constable Francis Habgood said: “Chief Supt Trotman will remain suspended from duty until the outcome of an internal disciplinary hearing on conduct matters unconnected with the criminal case. As this is ongoing, Thames Valley Police is unable to comment further.”
