If you take a glance at the *New Driver Guidance (Cheap Cars to Insure)* section in the contents, you will spot a variety of popular small hatches with each post studying the lowest insurance prices for each discussed car. Today, this posting will provide a top 10 list of the cheapest cars to insure out of every catered car. A ruling that has been taken here is to only use one specific model from any such car brand in the rankings. There may of course be other cars out there that may have made these rankings, but this list should only be used as a rough guide and the focus has always been on the more popular cars in the UK. Just to note that Thatcham have now stopped providing insurance group ratings out of 20 on their site, instead just opting for the newer ratings out of 50.
By going off the older insurance ratings, insurance group 1 cars and insurance group 2 cars have made the grade here. The addition of the ratings out of 50 has enabled clearer ranking, but if there were any equals then the smaller engine sized cars were ranked higher (some insurance companies may judge the specific engine size as well as a Thatcham rating). Certainly the higher ranked cars here are the cheapest cars to insure and will help to lower those insurance quotes. The newer cars will naturally cost more money to buy, but the value of the car has not really been taken into consideration today. It is worth mentioning that if you want one of these cars due the lower insurance then just make sure that you choose the specific model with the specific engine size (cc).
